System analysis and analyst:
System analysis: It is the study of complete business system or parts of business system and application of information gained from that study to design, documentation and implementation of new or improved system.
or
System Analyst:or
It simply says study of system (may be existing or proposed software/IS) in detail and in different respects which leads to the new system with essential features. This study overcomes the problem and gives us overview of whole system.
The persons who perform above task/system analysis, design and implementation activity is known
as system analyst. Somewhere we say or call by names like business engineer, business analyst etc. The work of system analyst who designs an information system is just same as an architect of a house. They work as facilitators of he development of information systems and computer applications.
The system analyst has following roles/responsibilities:
1.) Defining Requirement: It's very difficult duty of analyst to understand user's problems as well as requirements. some techniques like interview, questioning, surveying, data collection etc have to be used. The basic step for any system analyst is to understand the requirements of the users.
2.)change agent:-
->S/He acts an agent.
->He views how the users will handle the changes brought in system.
->S/he focuses on system's as well as user's effectiveness in an organization with its further improvement .
->Acting as an agent,he or she the organization to next higher level of success by applying different concepts, motivating the peoples.
->He is a self motivator and as an analyst, he inspires others to do
3)Investigator and monitor:- If the system has been fail then
->He may investigate the existing system.
->S/he tries to extract the causes of failures
-> Creates information structures of that reasons
->Then he monitors the system and its impact on whole organization.
4)Architect:-
->S/he works as liaison between user's logical and physical design. Here, logical design means presenting logics in diagrammatical form. whera as physical desig means converting that logical design into codes.
-> An analyst sometimrs works as physical designer and this becomes blueprint later.
5)Psychologist:
-> In system development, systems are built around people.
->The analyst plays the role of psychologist in the way s/he reaches people, interprets their thoughts, assesses their behaviour and draws conclusions from these interactions. ->Psychologist plays a major role during the phase of fact finding.
6)Motivator:-
->The acceptance of system is done through participation of user so the analyst explains every respect of system and motivates the users.
->S/he goes to users, talks, notices their behaviors and draws conclusion from that.
7)Intermediary:-
->S/he should be a diplomatic while dealing with third party/ies. The analyst should try to support all users.
->S/he represents thoughts of goals of organisation and appeases the parties to achieve goals using computerization.
Apart from these all, the analyst also works as
System designer (designing whole system), Prioritization the requirements, Evaluation of system etc.
